We are a social
enterprise company
What does that mean?
We serve our local community. We design, develop and deliver our services together with the people in the community we serve so we stay accountable to them.

We are a not-for-profit organisation so all our profits are reinvested in community projects.

In short, our social enterprise puts the interests of people first so that we can create the biggest possible impact.

Growth and resilience
Governance
The Steering Committee, formed of members of the community Open Harmony serves, functions as an effective way of communicating ideas and feedback from all our members and ensuring we are community-led. The Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and Strategic Lead within the Steering Committee continued to meet and, collectively, have made vital contributions to the running of the organisation (see volunteer activities above).
All Steering Committee member (and Director) roles are voluntary.

Finance
The Treasurer within the Steering Committee has continued to help review and optimise spending on projects and core running costs and has assisted with income generation and fundraising activities.
We are actively recruiting a Director with Financial responsibilities in the coming year.

Safeguarding
Our safeguarding policies and procedures have been reviewed and deemed satisfactory by SAFEcic consultants (Safeguarding Specialists Community Interest Company), and we will continue our membership with SAFEcic to access expert advice and support.
The whole team undergoes annual and thorough safeguarding training (as above) to ensure we maintain a safe environment and “speak up” culture to protect people who are at risk of harm.

Team Wellbeing
Directors, staff and volunteers form a cohesive and mutually supportive team. We regularly hold debriefing and peer-to-peer support sessions to share experiences, provide feedback and guidance, and support each other’s wellbeing as we navigate challenging times during the cost-of-living crisis.
We are exploring options to provide additional supervision and professional support to our team to help ensure we remain resilient in the future.

Partnership Working
We’re locally rooted, and partnership working is essential to our growth and providing ongoing support for people in the greatest need. We are passionate about collaborating with partners in such a way that we unify our mutual strengths and learn from our weaknesses.
